Apologies for the fact that the Sounding Board did not appear last month. The website was being refreshed, as you can see from our new look. Many thanks to our webpage technician, Mike Shingen Price, and our wonderful website volunteer, Brenda Jackson!
The Board is working on our budget for next year. It is very important for committees and other Westwood groups to submit their budgetary needs as soon as possible to treasurer@westwoodunitarian.ca.
Trudy Greinauer and Brenda Jackson joined the Board at our March meeting to discuss Westwood’s Organizational Guide, which is available, under Our Organization at the top of every page on our website, for everyone to read. Much appreciation goes to both of them for their valuable work and advice.
Our collaboration with Papaschase First Nation #136 is getting closer to reality. There was a recent meeting with Chief Darlene Misik to look at the space we are offering for a part-time office in our building. We are looking forward to them bringing Indigenous related programs and events to our neighbourhood which will contribute to reconciliation. We anticipate this will be the beginning of a long and valuable relationship.
The basement project is continuing. January’s cleaning bee cleared out several spaces and the next step will be to paint the east meeting room.
Thank you to all those who organized, helped at and attended our Stewardship Gratitude Luncheon on Sunday, March 10. It was wonderful to have over 30 Westwoodians enjoying time together over good food!
Finally, exciting plans are in the works for autumn 2024 workshops. Stay tuned!
Get out your calendars and Save The Dates of Upcoming Events of Interest, as we sincerely wish to see all of you: members, friends, visitors, seekers, always welcome!
