Speaker: Harjeet Grewal
Dr. Harjeet Singh Grewal is Assistant Professor (Teaching) of Sikh Studies in the Department of Classics and Religion at the University of Calgary. His areas of research and teaching include Sikhi and Sikhism, Pluralism, Theory of Religion, and Sikh Diaspora, and he is currently working on a book janamsākhī literature. For the past 5 years, he has served as Principal of the Sunday Gurmat School and the Summer Gurmat Camp at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in Edmonton, where he has guided curriculum and instruction in Gurmat, Gurmukhi script, and Punjabi language. Harjeet’s research is grounded in creating novel approaches to Sikh literature and philosophy by applying these to current humanitarian questions. He is an internationally recognized expert in both Sikh Studies and Punjabi language instruction who is passionate about making Sikhi accessible to learners of all ages.
