Truth & Reconciliation – Sunday Service
A compassionate community of free religious thought, inviting all people to rest, grow, and serve the world.
Judith Ann Gale is active with Bear Claw Beaver Hills House, an Indigenous-led volunteer organization that fosters community respect and awareness by reaching out to people going through tough times.
Bear Claw started out as a necessity during COVID. Our brothers and sisters were quite literally left out of the fold. While locked down snuggly in your homes our brothers and sisters had none. They were left on the streets with no amenities open. They were starving and needed supports. We filled the void. Our volunteers and donors gladly jumped to lend their kind support. 4 years later we are still out there continuing the good work of our ancestors.
As a 60’s scoop I never had the privilege of growing up with my biological family. When I was able to find them, I found that my Granny had been taking care of all who came across her just as her Granny did. In the same spirit we feed, clothed, sheltered our brothers and sisters living rough. , If we are lucky enough we bring our brothers and sisters back home.
We advocate for housing first for all and MMEIP because we believe every child matters. Marsi Cho, Hiy Hiy, thank you for inviting me. Judith Ann Gale
Westwood runs weekly services, September through June, bringing a variety of speakers on a wide range of topics. Please check back for updates on this Sunday’s service.
There is an opportunity for ‘social time’ in person (with coffee) or online following the service – a time to connect with friends old and new.
