Is There a Dark Side of Hope? – Sunday Service
A compassionate community of free religious thought, inviting all people to rest, grow, and serve the world.
Is hope always a good thing? Is darkness always a bad thing? Can hope be a prison we choose to inhabit? Can darkness be a sacred place? Hope has a dark side in how it impacts the mind and for some, their behaviour. Unexamined, Hope can become a prison when it dominates your thoughts. Letting go of the hopes that harm, can create magic in your life!
Dawn (hopes) to challenge preconceived notions of hope and despair.
Dawn Hunter (she/her) is an active member of Westwood congregation. She has studied and taught Visual Art for most of her adult life. Dawn works as a Graduate Student Advisor for the Fine Arts Departments at the University of Alberta. As a speaker for Westwood, she thoroughly enjoys bringing ideas and new ways of looking at things to her fellow Westwood friends. She is looking forward to sharing her thoughtful musings hope, and the problematic attachments that unexamined hope can create.
Westwood runs weekly services, September through June, bringing a variety of speakers on a wide range of topics. Please check back for updates on this Sunday’s service.
There is an opportunity for ‘social time’ in person (with coffee) or online following the service – a time to connect with friends old and new.
