Resources for Visitors & Newcomers
Welcome!
We are a lucky congregation in that we attract many visitors and newcomers and are growing in membership. Assuming you're with us in body and in spirit, here are a few suggestions how to make yourself comfortable and familiar with what's going on around the church.
Explore
Feel free to explore any and all events that Westwood offers, on Sunday and beyond. Come out to more
than one worship service - they vary from week to week, only the time is the same.
Boldly ask for help or information at coffee time after the service. The greeter/information table host
is a good person to start with, and there are 20 roving ambassadors who are willing to talk to you.
Board members
wear special name tags and are knowledgeable folks to approach.
There's some good reading in the pamphlet rack and library cabinet. You can also find many resources
and links on this website, as well as past sermons
and audio archives.
Pocket guide
Our Pocket Guide (pdf) is designed for newcomers and introduces much of what this congregation is all about. Printed versions are available at the info table at the back of the sanctuary.
Check Westwood out
Membership hosts several information/orientation sessions a year. New2UU sessions are designed for folks who are totally new to Unitarian Universalism. Orientation to Westwood is for those who have been around for a while or come from another UU church. Dates will be in the newsletter, order of service or on the bulletin board.

Stay in touch
Our newsletter is published monthly. Copies are found online, at the info table and in the entrance hallway. Most of our upcoming events are posted on this website.
Email sign up
If you add your email address to the guest book on the info table, you'll receive email invitations for newcomer sessions and, if you wish, our newsletter.
Do a little bit of your bit
Signing up for a Sunday service role is a great way to introduce yourself to Westwood. So is lighting a candle of joys or concerns on Sundays. Help wanted notices are in the order of service through the year. Check the bulletin board at the back of the sanctuary for volunteer and event sign-ups.
